Supervise assigned personnel and direct the activities of a media maintenance department.

Under general direction, with delegated authority, interview and recommend selection of applicants, conduct training, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary actions. 

Provide technical support such as: assigning and reviewing maintenance and repair activities; writing specifications for the purchase of media equipment; consulting on the planning, design, and installation of media equipment and systems; developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs; assisting in the development of budget requests; monitoring budgets.

Provides technical instruction and guidance to Media Maintenance personnel on repair, operation, and installation procedures; 

Establishes work schedules, instructs and directs difficult work operations; inspects work in progress and assures that standards of quality required by work are met; 

Surveys, researches, designs, and develops partial or complete media systems; evaluates new equipment to determine applications and limitations; 

Analyzes media systems and identifies appropriate maintenance requirements;  

Develops and monitors preventive maintenance programs; 

Writes maintenance specifications for audio-visual, telecommunications, and media equipment and systems;  

Assists in budget preparation and monitors budget expenditures; 

Purchases (or directs the purchase of) parts and supplies; oversees inventory control; 

Consults with faculty and staff on equipment purchases and media installations; provides cost estimates when requested; 

Assists in formulating and enforcing safety rules and assures cleanliness in accordance with area requirements; 

Repairs and maintains various audio, video, audio-visual, television, satellite, or other media equipment or systems; 

May perform limited maintenance or repair on computers; 

Performs related duties as required.

There may be instances where individual positions must have additional licenses or certification.  It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure the appropriate licenses/certifications are obtained for each position.

One year of experience as a Media Maintenance Technician 3 or Lead 

OR 

Five years of experience as a media maintenance technician 

OR 

Equivalent education/experience.
