As a community college or vocational school graduate from an accredited institution, trains for and performs beginning level computer programming, computer analysis and systems review, technical support services for clients, and/or network support services.

This entry level position is intended to be used on an in-training basis.  In an on-the-job training setting, incumbents in this job class apply their training which has prepared them fora career in the information technology field.

There may be instances where individual positions must have additional licenses or certification. It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure the appropriate licenses/certifications are obtained for each position.

An Associates degree or equivalent vocational school certificate, a certified nine month retraining program, a one year vocational technical program, or an equivalent professional certification such as MCSE, involving major study in information technology, computer science, telecommunications, or closely related field. 

Students, including state employees, who are enrolled and scheduled to complete their degree or certificate requirements within 6 months may apply.  The degree or certificate  must be achieved, however, prior to appointment. 

Note:  Selective certification may be requested and applied to specific information technology disciplines and/or internship/fellowship/work-study programs.
