Serves as master in operation of the Keller Ferry carrying vehicles, passengers and cargo and leads a crew.

Operates the Keller Ferry carrying vehicles, passengers and cargo; 

Navigates vessel on instruments in fog and in heavy snow storms; 

Supervises the loading and unloading of the vessel to ensure maintenance of safety standards; 

Maintains a running log of the number of passengers and vehicles; 

Inspects the ferry and its navigational aids to ensure they are in good operating condition in accordance with U.S. Coast Guard standards; 

Lubricates and services ferry engines and makes emergency repairs; 

Adjusts ferry landings for fluctuations in lake level and assists in ferry landings maintenance; 

May do welding, carpentry, electrical and mechanical work in connection with ferry and ferry landing maintenance; 

Leads the work of one or more deckhands; 

Performs other related work as required.

There may be instances where individual positions must have additional licenses or certification. It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure the appropriate licenses/certifications are obtained for each position.

A valid U.S. Coast Guard license for master of inland steam or motor vessels of not more than 100 gross tons valid on Lake Roosevelt between Grand Coulee Dam and the Canadian Border.
