Definition

Administer and score psychological tests. Assist with the coordination of psychological testing activities for a clinical or research program. Participate in the development or modification of tests or testing procedures.

Distinguishing Characteristics

Under general direction, administer and score psychological tests; analyze test results. Determine most suitable testing procedures to be used. Assess client's or subject's response to test conditions and adapt testing procedures as necessary.

Typical Work

Selects, administers, scores and analyzes psychological tests; evaluates behavior of individuals being tested, recommends addition or deletion of tests;

Assists with the development and/or modification of psychological tests; administers and assists with the evaluation of experimental tests; conducts literature search to assist in determining suitable testing methods;

Prepares data to present at meetings, conferences, or for publication; assist in writing clinical and/or research reports and papers;

Establishes and coordinates testing schedule;

Instructs students, interns and other staff in function of testing lab and use of tests;

Performs duties of Psychometrist 1;

Performs related duties as required.

Desirable Qualifications

A Master's Degree with major study in psychology or a closely related field with emphasis in tests and measurement

OR

A Bachelor's Degree in a behavioral or social science and two years of experience in psychological testing

OR

Two years of experience as a Psychometrist 1

OR

Equivalent education/experience.
