Definition
This is the senior, specialist, or leadworker level of the series. Leads assigned crew and performs a variety of assignments assisting in the management of a game farm or operating creamery equipment. Regularly assigns, instructs, and checks the work of others. May supervise and train lower laborers, farm workers, and part-time helpers
Typical Work
Directs farming operations in absence of supervisor;
Leads assistants and performs activities in the feeding, breeding, management, and general care of animals including research and teaching functions;
Supervises staff subordinate game farm personnel in breeding, egg taking, hatching, raising, and caring for pheasants and other game birds;
Supervises work crews typically involved in construction, maintenance, and repair of game farm buildings and equipment;
Detects, diagnoses, and treats common poultry diseases; debeaks and brails birds; selects brood stock;
Receives, weighs, tests, and dumps milk delivered to a creamery;
Operates pasteurizers, homogenizers, bottling machines, churns, and bottle washers;
Assists in the manufacture of ice cream, cheese, chocolate milk, and other dairy products;
May supervise lower level staff.
