Definition
Lead and work with roofers to perform journey-level work.
Distinguishing Characteristics
Positions in this class are distinguished by the responsibility to assign and lead work at a project or job location, to instruct other assigned roofers to correct and specify methods, and to perform skilled work in the roofing trade.
Typical Work
Perform all duties of a roofer;
Lead assigned personnel in the performance of work;
Assure adherence to safety rules, regulations, and precautions by assigned personnel;
Develop preliminary cost estimates for repair and installation of roofs and structures adjacent or related to roofs;
Develop methods and procedures followed by assigned personnel;
May perform work in other trades;
Perform related duties as required.

There may be instances where individual positions must have additional licenses or certification. It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure the appropriate licenses/certifications are obtained for each position.
Desirable Qualifications
One year, full-time experience as a journey roofer or equivalent trade skill. Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
