Positions in this occupational category perform professional engineering work related to energy or utilities.

Positions at this level perform entrance level professional engineering work under the supervision of a licensed engineer.

Assists in the collection of data for the preparation of engineering studies.  Tasks include researching technical and cost information; 

Prepares spreadsheets, databases and other application software for use in conducting various engineering efficiency programs; 

Provides support to architects, engineers, and institutional building operators in fulfilling the requirements of engineering programs sponsored by BPA, DOE, or the agency; 

Assists in the gathering of data at site inspections and on-site audits; supports technical tasks involved in evaluation; 

Drafts, amends and monitors technical contracts as necessary; tracks budget expenditures, reviews invoices and reviews required reports; 

Examines and studies laws, rules, regulations, precedent decisions and orders, and the regulatory theory applicable to all engineering matters affecting energy or utility regulation.

There may be instances where individual positions must have additional licenses or certification. It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure the appropriate licenses/certifications are obtained for each position.   

Some positions require certification as Engineer In-Training or as a registered Professional Engineer. 

Positions typically require a Bachelor’s degree with a major study in engineering.
