Definition

Supervises workers performing various unskilled and semi-skilled manual work in the maintenance, repair, remodeling, and construction of buildings, facilities, utility and sewer systems, equipment, and grounds.

Typical Work

Plan and prioritize work projects; develop work schedules;

Read plans and blueprints to determine scope of work and materials needed; make cost estimates; submit project proposals;

Review completed projects for satisfactory compliance with design and instruction;

Enforce safety rules and regulations;

Maintain records of work performed; order supplies, equipment and tools required for projects;

Direct maintenance and repair of equipment;

May coordinate the work of Heavy Equipment Operators and other skilled trades personnel who may be assigned to a particular project;

May supervise set up for athletic events and assure site is returned to original condition;

Perform related duties as required.

Desirable Qualifications

Two years of full-time experience as a Utility Worker 2 or equivalent AND one year of full-time experience as a Utility Worker 3 OR equivalent education/experience.
