Each year, active and retired public employees participate in the annual Washington State Combined Fund Drive to raise money for local, national, and international communities or favorite charities. Employees may contribute through monthly payroll deduction, writing a check, or making a one-time pledge. To participate, employees may set up a secure online account or complete a paper form.
Employees may seek confidential, professional help with personal or work-related problems through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). There is no charge for assessment or assistance. EAP services are available statewide.
Enterprise Services offers a variety of training opportunities to all public sector employees. Employees should contact their department's HR office for further information on training.
Enterprise Services offers courses developed especially for current and future leaders and managers. If an employee is interested in taking a leadership course, he or she would need to contact their department’s HR office.
OFM's HR Division created a tuition reimbursement form that agencies can use for tuition reimbursement requests. Agencies must develop their own tuition reimbursement policy. The Employee Suggestion Program allows employees to submit ideas that seek to increase organizational effectiveness. Some areas addressed in suggestions have included waste, energy conservation, customer service, and work place efficiency. Groups of employees submitting ideas for money-saving improvements to the Teamwork Incentive Program (TIP) are eligible to receive a cash award. Public Service Recognition Awards are given to public service professionals during the first week of May. They serve to: pay tribute to public service professionals; encourage excellence and esprit de corps in government; promote interest in public service careers, and inform citizens about the services public employees provide.
Washington Wellness is a statewide wellness initiative to improve the health of Washington State employees, retirees, and their family members. Wellness coordinators have been designated by state agencies and higher education institutions to implement wellness activities in their own organizations.
Commute Trip Reduction (CTR) programs may offer information, promotional prizes, incentives, subsidies, preferential parking, and/or other rewards to state employees for using alternate commute modes to get to work. These benefits support employee and agency efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, offer a unique benefit to prospective employees, and encourage employee wellness through walking and biking commute alternatives. Washington State Wheel Options actively encourages individuals to use commute alternatives through the "Wheel Options, your trip, your way" campaign that occurs twice each year in April and October. This program focuses on reducing congestion, reducing air pollution and decreasing energy consumption. Promotional materials, employer tool kits, incentives and prizes are developed and promoted across the state in an effort to educate individuals and encourage the use of commute options. These options include: Carpool, Vanpool, Bus/Rail, Bike/Walk, Compressed Schedule, and Telecommute.
